Whistleblowing is the reporting of illegal activities or irregularities in the workplace by employees or contractors. It makes it possible to bring to the attention events of corruption, fraud, negligence or dangers that could harm the integrity of the entity or stakeholders. Legislative Decree No. 24/2023 on the European Directive 2019/1937. regulates whistleblowing in Italy.
Whistleblowing, for the protection of public and private employees, requires that at least one alternative reporting channel be set up to ensure, by computerised means, the confidentiality of the reporter’s identity.
